MK Gallery

Map design, print, accessible and sensory design

I worked with MK Gallery on the production of Sensory Guides for the grand opening of the gallery. I worked alongside a Sensory Curator, touring the gallery for areas that may be of interest to children. We produced this guide with these areas in mind making sure the design, layout and illustrations were accessible and inclusive.

Children's Sensory Guide

Some illustrations were created by Martha, Hope and Corin and I drew inspiration from these to create others throughout the guide. Copy provided by MK’s learning team.

My Sensory Map

This map has been put together with the help of the Sensory Curator. Colours from the MK brand palette were explored, only using colours that were accessible to all so those with sight conditions. Similarly, sizing of fonts and layout was carefully thought out to be accessible to all.
We referenced makaton symbols, producing our own library of icons and symbols.

My Sensory Map - Participant Copy

This is a blank version of the colour version for the children to fill in while wandering around the gallery to record what they feel. The blank copies are used to inform feedback to the gallery.
